Meet the Coaches

  • Linda Hatfield
Linda’s been an avid and Age Group competitive runner for over the past 15 years.  She enjoys running any distance on any type of terrain. Her favorite distance is the marathon; as she’s run over 20 of them…including 4 Boston Marathons. She’s also competed in triathlons of every distance including two Full Ironman. She feels very lucky to be able to share her passion of running with others and witness them conquer new challenges. Her main goals in coaching are to ensure each participants is enjoying the journey and staying injury free. If they’re having fun, they’ll return for more runs. If they return for more runs, they’ll improve and have even MORE fun! Thus, the rewarding habit is created and their confidence grows along with their fitness level. She sees potential in all – “You’re stronger than you think you are and can do more than you think you can” – Ken Chlouber, Founder of the Leadville Trail 100 Run

  • Kelly Svihovec
Kelly’s a lifelong soccer player who took up distance running 12 years ago to support a friend training for her first marathon. She’s since completed over 20 half marathons, 2 marathons, and tons of other shorter distance races. Her favorite race distance is the half marathon, though she loves shorter speed interval training and races too. She fell in love with trail running 2 years ago and takes turn racing road and trails. Kelly began running with Life Time 2 years ago and is passionate about sharing her love of running with others and helping them meet their goals. She coaches the early morning marathon training group and subs in on all the other classes as well.

  • John Tate
John has run 31 marathons. The last one was Boston, last year. He’s run tons of 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons. He won a 5K in 2017 with a time of 18:57. His favorite marathon is St. George Marathon in Utah.  It was where he started to believe that he could qualify for Boston, which he did in the Richmond marathon.  His favorite distance to run is the half marathon. He loves to run and share his love of running with others.

  • Chip Akers
Chip has been running for 43 years, and “finally made it to that less competitive 55-59 age group!” He has put in many miles and run many races. His running career went through Appalachian State University from ’78-’81, and continues with competitive running to this day. While Chip has some serious PR’s, he’d rather talk about what he is training for today, and how he can help clients to reach their running goals.
